MODESTO, CALIF. (Aug. 13, 2014) – Dunkin’ Donuts, America’s all-day, everyday stop for coffee and baked goods, is opening its first full expression Dunkin’ Donuts restaurant in Northern California. The new Modesto restaurant, located at 1320 Standiford Ave., will open its doors at 5 a.m. on Tuesday, August 26. Guests will have the opportunity to enjoy a special California-inspired donut on grand opening day only, while supplies last. Beloved brand mascots, Cuppy and Sprinkles, will also join in the grand opening festivities and will be on hand for photo opportunities.

“We’re sure Northern California residents will welcome us to the neighborhood and we look forward to becoming as much a cultural staple in this state as we are throughout the country,” said Paul Twohig, President, Dunkin' Donuts US and Canada, and Dunkin' Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Europe and Latin America. “We can’t wait to provide Dunkin’ Donuts fans throughout Northern California with our delicious food and beverage options, starting with our new restaurant in Modesto.”

Local city dignitaries and Dunkin’ Donuts executives will be on site to assist in the ceremonial grand opening ribbon cutting. The Modesto opening will also include a check presentation to the Second Harvest Food Bank of San Joaquin and Stanislaus Counties, a local partner of Feeding America. Dunkin’ Donuts will donate $2,000 to further support its shared mission to fight hunger within the community. Over the past seven years, The Dunkin' Donuts & Baskin-Robbins Community Foundation has given more than $1,000,000 to Feeding America, and it recently made an additional $1,000,000, three-year grant to support children's hunger programs nationwide.

The new Modesto franchise will be operated by Sizzling Platter/Sizzling Donuts, an experienced Dunkin’ Donuts operator with restaurants throughout the West. The location will feature several environmentally friendly elements, including low-flow fixtures, regionally appropriate landscaping, zero-VOC paint, high efficiency HVAC and LED lighting inside. The restaurant will also feature #5 recyclable polypropylene cups for its hot beverages in place of foam cups.

“There has already been so much anticipation around Dunkin’ Donuts’ journey to California, so we can’t wait to finally open our doors to Modesto residents on August 26,” said Ted Morton, President and CEO of Sizzling Platter. “Our restaurant will feature Dunkin’ Donuts’ extensive array of high-quality hot and iced beverages, as well as sandwiches and baked goods, all served with the brand’s trademark fast and friendly service. We hope to quickly become the go-to destination for Modesto’s morning coffee, afternoon pick-me-up and evening treat.”
