Background Information

Founded:
In 1946, brothers-in-law Irv Robbins and Burt Baskin opened their first Baskin-Robbins store in Glendale, California. By 1948, they had six stores in the Los Angeles area. That same year they signed their first license agreement and gave birth to the concept of franchising in the ice cream industry. Dunkin' Brands acquired Baskin-Robbins in 1978.
