LEED Certification

Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design - is a nationally accepted certification for design, construction and operation of high performance "green" buildings. It is an approach that focuses on human and environmental health, water savings, energy efficiency and indoor environmental quality.

Why are we building a LEED certified store?
The first Dunkin' Donuts LEED certified restaurant is part of a greater Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment that provides the company with a central frame of reference for organizational decisions, strategic goal setting, and behaviors that respect all of our key stakeholders, including consumers, employees, franchisees, communities, suppliers, government and the environment.

Dunkin' Donuts believes that the green building principles being incorporated into the St. Petersburg restaurant will enhance future building models and help us create a prototype for green construction projects.

Why did we choose LEED?
LEED is nationally recognized as the benchmark for green buildings. The LEED guidelines provide us with a roadmap as we embark on our green building initiatives, so we know we’re working on aspects of construction that have a real environmental benefit. LEED also gives us a way to rate and measure our progress. And third party certification is important to us because it lends credibility to our efforts.
