Responsibility

Dunkin' Brands has been a proud member of the U.S. Green Building Council since 2008.

Our Planet

Sustainable Building

Our first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certified Dunkin’ Donuts store opened in October 2008 in St. Petersburg, Florida, and recently achieved LEED Silver Certification. To further our commitment to sustainable building, we will soon break ground on a second "green" Dunkin' Donuts restaurant targeting LEED certification in St. Petersburg.

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is a green building principle our franchisees can use in their existing stores to reduce carbon emissions and lower their utility bills.   We created a customized Energy Efficiency pamphlet to help them get started.

The pamphlet provides many “steps to save” recommendations, including:

  • Install occupancy sensor controls in bathrooms, offices, and storage closets
  • Replace analog HVAC thermostats with programmable thermostats
  • Replace existing walk-in cooler and freezer motors with electronically commutated motors
  • Implement a web-based energy management system

CERES

In 2009, Dunkin' Brands joined Ceres, a coalition of investors and environmental and public interest groups that supports companies seeking to improve their sustainability performance. As a Ceres member, we have committed to begin publicly reporting on our social and environmental performance, engage key stakeholders on our CSR strategy and results, and set goals for continuous improvement.
